This week i have been painting feverishly, enjoying the rain and the lingering moodiness it inevitably causes, finishing a song for the new record i am working on, and writing a treatment for the moving pic that will accompany it.
Apparently I’ve had loads of placements this fall that i just found out about, including a prime spot in the People’s Choice awards and i sold a painting which completely inspires me to paint more.
People are buying The Polyamorous Collection which makes me so happy and grateful that i have such amazingly supportive people in my life. one day soon i will pay off all this debt i incurred making it ;)
Joshua Tree and the Cactus
The beginning of this year I felt like I was walking through sludge and as I am not one to sit idle, thought a spontaneous trip into the desert was in order. So I got in a car with my beautiful friend and talented songstress Kelly Sweet and headed to Joshua Tree.
Last Friday we walked into the desert and I experienced something that I will never forget. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful. It was like all the colors in my paintings actually came to life and time seemed to alter entirely: so slow that I could see the earth breathe… As though we were in a dimension that I see only in dreams or when I create. I sat and watched everything in absolute silence for hours until the sun went down. When I got back, I jokingly tweeted “I am a cactus”. Don’t worry, I’m not completely checked out of reality ;) but I did stare at one for hours not knowing why I was so drawn to it. And life is so much simpler when we take time to listen.
As I sat there, for the first time in my life, I was able to understand and accept the poking, prodding, reaching, insatiable lust for life nature that is mine.
Polyamorous downloads are now available at iTunes, Amazon & CD Baby.
I also have The Polyamorous Collection available if you want the book, videos and music.
